Preserving the Art of Your Garment

Label

Always begin by reading the care label sewn into
your garment. It contains specific instructions
tailored to the fabric’s unique qualities and should
guide your approach to washing, drying, and
storing.

Wash

We recommend hand washing your garments in
cold or lukewarm water using a mild, eco-friendly
detergent. Avoid wringing the fabric; instead,
gently press out excess water with a clean towel. If
machine washing is permitted, use a mesh laundry
bag on a delicate cycle with cold water.

Dry

Never tumble dry your Connade pieces. Lay them
flat or hang them to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight
to prevent fading. Steam is preferred for removing
creases, but if ironing is necessary, always use a low
heat setting with a pressing cloth to protect the
fabric.

Store

Store garments with intention. Use padded or
wooden hangers for structured pieces and fold soft
knits to prevent stretching. Keep them in breathable
garment bags made of cotton or linen, and always
store them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Protect

Rotate your garments between wears to let the
fibers rest and recover. To naturally deter moths,
place lavender sachets or cedar blocks in your
wardrobe. Ensure garments are clean before
storage, as body oils and food particles can attract
pests.

Spot

If a spill occurs, gently blot the area with a clean
cloth — never rub. Use a gentle stain remover
suitable for delicates, and always test on an
inconspicuous area first before applying to the full
stain.

Cleanse

Dry clean only when truly necessary, and always
choose eco-conscious cleaners who use non-toxic
methods. Over-dry cleaning can weaken fabrics, so
limit it to preserve your garment’s integrity.

Repair

Tend to small repairs promptly — mend loose
threads, replace missing buttons, and consult a
trusted tailor for any larger fixes. These small acts
of care extend the life of your garment and honour
the craftsmanship behind it.

Cherish

Every Connade piece is designed with purpose and
meant to last. With conscious care and attention,
your garment becomes more than clothing.
